A new play based on Carl Sandburg's Pulitzer Prize winning biography on Abraham Lincoln asks: Does Abraham Lincoln still matter? The play, Carl Sandburg's Abraham Lincoln: A Living Portrait, reveals Lincoln through the words of Carl Sandburg. It's an evening of stories in Sandburg's cozy but cluttered writing den and in the audience of his famous national speaking tours.
During the play, while Lincoln struggles to save a nation, Sandburg strugglezs against his critics and time to finish his epic biography. Sandburg, the legendary journalist and poet, makes his case for why we still need Lincoln. Sandburg animates Lincoln off page as if you pass him on the street and witness the vivid detail his gaunt face, gangly frame, unshapely clothes and signature hat.
